Bet on a Cowboy - Julie Benson (HAR #1405 - June 2012)

Commitment phobic Colorado cowboy Griffin McAlister has it all figured out. Do the reality dating show, get the money his family desperately needs and go on with his life. Actually falling in love was never part of the deal...least of all falling in love with the show's spunky director.

Maggie Sullivan knows she's found a star the minute she meets Griffin. But as she gets to know the man behind the dimples, she realizes she might have found something more. It doesn't matter, though; she has a job to do. Besides, how could he ever notice her while he's busy wooing ten gorgeous women?

Now Griffin has a choice to make: stick with the plan and lose Maggie forever, or risk everything for a chance to win her heart!

Good book.   I liked Griffin and the way he wanted to do something to help out with the ranch and his mom's medical expenses.  I found that his plan to be able to do the show without actually having to marry the winner was pretty creative.  Maggie was drawn to Griffin from the beginning, but had a job to do as the producer of the show.  I really liked the way that she could see through his carefree attitude to the man and feelings beneath.  I thought it was really good the way that she would call him out when he try to get by on just his charm without actually putting some feeling into what he was doing.  When she confronted him about the way he would attempt to get by without really trying, it opened his eyes about what he was doing.  Maggie had her own issues with self-confidence, and I loved the way that Griffin showed her how much he liked the person that she was.  I hope that there will be a story for Avery.

Holding Out for Doctor Perfect - Teresa Southwick (HSE #2187 - May 2012)

Series: Men of Mercy Medical (Book 8)

No-nonsense Avery O'Neill was as by-the-numbers about her love life as she was about the hospital budget she managed. So she vowed to ignore any electricity that sparked between her and hotshot surgeon Spencer Stone -- even if sparks buckled her knees at every turn.

Until the business trip that changed everything.

Dr. Stone had his eye on the prize -- a state-of-the-art medical system that could save patients' lives. But he couldn't stop thinking about the controller whose cool demeanor hid a life-defining secret. After insatiable passion swept them into an unexpected predicament, could Mercy General's most eligible bachelor convince Avery that his feelings were real...no matter what surprises awaited them?

Very good book.  I liked Spencer from the beginning.  He was extra charming, but he didn't use it in a mean way.  He was also very focused on getting the medical equipment he wanted.  Avery wasn't convinced it was needed, and also didn't trust the man who was known for not committing to anyone.  One thing they had in common was a mutual attraction.  While on a business trip together, they gave in to that attraction.  Shortly after that, Avery discovered that she was pregnant.  Thanks to her past, she had no expectation that he would stick around and was stunned when he didn't desert her.  Spencer also had issues of his own, not the least of which was a bad romantic experience in his past that made him reluctant to trust his heart.  I loved the way everything worked out.  I hope to see a story for Spencer's brother Adam soon.

One Dance With the Sheikh - Tessa Radley (HD #2156 - May 2012)

Series: Dynasties: The Kincaids (Book 5)

A spontaneous, passion-filled Vegas romp with a sheikh is out of the ordinary for sensible Laurel Kincaid. She's walked the straight-and-narrow her entire life and has wound up with more stress and conflict than she can handle. Indulging in a jaunt with irresistible Rakin Whitcomb Abdellah is a delicious escape. So delicious that she says "I do" to a short-term marriage of convenience so he can claim his inheritance. But being husband and wife behind closed doors is more tantalizing than either of them expected, and suddenly the rules of their temporary marriage feel very inconvenient….

Loved the book - there's nothing like a sexy sheikh to make fun reading.  Laurel was tired of being the sensible sister, and decided to make a "Get a Life" list.  On that list was "flirt with a stranger".   Rakin was fascinated by Laurel when he met her at Eli and Kara's wedding.  Eli had suggested asking Laurel for her help in claiming his inheritance, so that is what he did.  He offered Laurel the opportunity for the adventures she wanted in exchange for her help.  Once they were married, Laurel found herself really liking Rakin and the man she was getting to know.  That liking turned into love, and she started to dream of a future with him.  Rakin had not really been exposed to love, and had had no intention of marrying.  As he gave in to his attraction for Laurel, the intensity made him very nervous and he kept trying to withdraw and bury his feelings.  When their differing outlooks caused a rift, Laurel returned to Charleston. I loved seeing Laurel as she let go of her inhibitions and started to enjoy life. I enjoyed seeing Rakin's attempts to deny his feelings, and his capitulation at the end.

Inherited: Expectant Cinderella - Myrna MacKenzie (HR #4300 - Mar 2012)

Parker Sutcliffe is allergic to marriage, so he thinks he's the subject of a practical joke when he inherits a Vegas wedding chapel!

Daisy Lockett thinks the joke's on her -- how dare this stranger, who obviously doesn't have a romantic bone in his (irritatingly sexy) body, threaten to close down her business? She can deal with morning sickness and swollen ankles -- so she'll take this pain-in-the-backside billionaire in her stride!

Parker's encountered some tough cookies, but in this pregnant firecracker, he's met his match....

Very good book.  I liked both Parker and Daisy.  Parker was obviously uncomfortable at first, since he didn't believe in love.  He also wanted to find out about this aunt he knew nothing about, in case there were bad things about her that could hurt his company.  Daisy was very good at what she did, and felt responsible also for the other three people with her.  She didn't purposely set out to change Parker's attitude, but just by being herself he learned to relax and have fun.  I loved the way she helped him with the spa, and how he helped her at a couple of the weddings.  His commercials for the spa, after he left Las Vegas, showed just how much of an influence she had on him.  I loved her arrival in Boston and the effect she had on his board members/family.
