Very good book. Annalise is the only girl in the Wolff "pack". Because of her mother's death and their isolation on Wolff Mountain, she was never exposed to the normal things a girl would learn from hanging out with other girls. As a result, she did things she probably wouldn't have done otherwise. Her hurt and anger from Sam's rejection are still with her and have affected her even now. When she is offered a chance to work on his grandparents' house, she can't say no. When they get snowed in at the house, Annalise realizes that her attraction to Sam has never gone away. She decides to give in to the attraction but tries to keep her emotions out of it, not wanting to risk her heart again. Because of her upbringing and issues she feels that she will never marry and have children because she doesn't want to risk doing something wrong. This is especially hard on her when she discovers that Sam wants to find the right woman and settle down and have a family. She would love to be that woman, but her fears make her unwilling to try. Sam rejected Annalise all those years ago because he felt he was too old for her. He was attracted to her even then, but unwilling to take the risk. Since then he has regretted the way he rejected her and would really like to make things right. When they are stranded together he has a hard time controlling his reactions to her. He would love to have a relationship with Annalise and see where it might go, but her attitude toward having a family makes him cautious. He discovers that her attitude covers up some deep seated insecurities and does his best to show her that they are unfounded. Their physical relationship is explosive but their other issues are preventing them from moving forward. I really enjoyed seeing Annalise get to know Rachel and her baby and learn that parenting is not an exact science. The conclusion, especially with the part about the cake, was fantastic.

Good book. Gillian is back on Wolff Mountain and staying with her mother while she looks for a new job. When her car goes off the road in the rain, she is rescued by Devlyn, who doesn't recognize her at first. When he does, the feelings of guilt over the way he treated her one time when they were children come rushing back. He also discovers he is very attracted to her. As a way to help her out while keeping her close, he hires her as a consultant for the school his family is building in the nearby town. Their attraction is intense, but both of them have some serious issues to overcome before they can be together. I really liked both Gillian and Devlyn. Gillian was very cautious about being around Devlyn. She knew that their attraction couldn't go anywhere. He is a rich playboy who dates some of the most beautiful women around. She is an ordinary looking third grade teacher whose mother is the Wolff's housekeeper. Those feelings aren't helped by her mother who keeps emphasizing those differences instead of telling her that she is good enough for anyone. Devlyn has never wanted to commit to anyone. He has some things in his past that make him certain that he would never be a good husband or father. When they split over his attitude, both are heartbroken, though he doesn't really understand why he feels the way he does. Gillian goes to him and finally gets the story of why he feels as he does and is able to show him how wrong he is to be worried. I loved the way she went after him and wouldn't let him chase her away.

Very good book. I liked both Ariel and Jacob. Jacob had closed off his emotions after losing too many people who were close to him. He had been hurt too much to want to risk it again. When Ariel came to him and appealed to him as a doctor to help her out, he couldn't say no. But he was also leery, as she attracted him as no woman had in years. Ariel needed Jacob's help as a doctor. She couldn't risk anyone knowing of her health issues while she was filming her new movie, so she talked Jacob into posing as her boyfriend. Neither one expected to find the other irresistible. I liked the way that Jacob stepped up when Ariel needed his help, even though he knew it would be difficult for him personally. He really did try to do what he felt was right. Ariel knew she could easily fall in love with Jacob, but thought she would be able to control herself. I liked the way that she was so open and real with the people on the movie set, and the way that everyone liked and respected her. I loved the way that Jacob came running when she needed him at the end, and I loved the conclusion.

Very good book. Kieran really irritated me at first. He didn't seem to understand that by lying to her about his name when they first knew each other, he had made it impossible for her to find him when she found out she was pregnant. And when she finally did find him, she felt she couldn't trust him. All he could see was that he hadn't been told. For her part, Olivia still didn't feel that she could trust him to actually be around to act as a father. The passion was still there, but she didn't see anything permanent coming from it. Over the weeks they were together, with Kieran getting to know his daughter, he found himself changing. It took quite a lot for him to realize that he could stop running and build a life back on Wolff Mountain.
