The M.D.'s Secret Daughter - Jacqueline Diamond (HAR #1420 - Sept 2012)

Series: Safe Harbor Medical (Book 9)

What were the odds of Dr. Zack Sargent turning up at Safe Harbor Medical? Nurse Jan Garcia's former fiancé would be on staff here -- and assigned to work closely with her as she launches the hospital's new egg donor program. It's more than a little awkward.

Years ago, a terrible misunderstanding tore them apart. And now Zack, a widower raising his young stepdaughter alone, learns that Jan secretly kept the daughter -- their daughter -- he thought she'd given up for adoption.

Zack has become the kind of steady, caring father both girls need, and he and Jan can't ignore the sparks that still fly between them. But to become a family, they must learn to trust each other again. Could two little girls and two stray cats be enough to bring them back together?

Good book.  I liked Jan, even though she hadn't told Zack about keeping their daughter.  When circumstances caused her to have to move in with Zack and his stepdaughter, things got very interesting.  Zack was stunned to learn about his daughter and was intent on getting to know her.  With she and Jan moving in, this gave him a chance to get to know her.  Zack and Jan were also getting to know each other again.  They both had issues that they needed to deal with.  Zack had to forgive Jan for not telling him about keeping their daughter.  He also needed to learn to be less rigid in the way he did things.  Jan needed to forgive Zack for not standing by her when they were first engaged.  At the end, Zack finally learned to actually hear what Jan was telling him and they were able to settle their pasts and move on together.

The Baby Dilemma - Jacqueline Diamond (HAR #1400 - Apr 2012)

Series: Safe Harbor Medical (Book 8)

Thanks to her anonymous sperm donor, a baby is about to be more than a gleam in Dr. Paige Brennan's eye. So why the Safe Harbor obstetrician just agreed to further complicate her life with a roommate, she'll never know. She still can't decide whether private detective Mike Aaron is irresistible...or just plain irritating. Though it is nice to have a man around the house.

Until Paige gets the sneaking suspicion that her baby's "anonymous" father is none other than her new roomie.

Helping out couples with fertility issues is one thing. Raising his own child is something Mike never envisioned. But the mother-to-be is bringing out his protective instincts. And some other feelings he didn't even know he had. Things are suddenly moving a little too fast. Or is Mike right where he belongs -- on the fast track to fatherhood?

Very good book.  Not only is Paige an excellent doctor, with a good relationship with her patients and coworkers, she has a straightforward way of dealing with people.  Mike had irritated her when they first met, with some rather obnoxious comments and then some sexist flirting.  I liked the fact that, when she explained what bugged her, he changed his ways.  They also had some real attraction going on.  But Paige is pregnant and Mike has said he has no interest in ever having children.  They give in to the attraction, though Paige hasn't told him she's pregnant, and she knows that because of it the relationship has no future.  When Mike finds out about her pregnancy, he's thrown for a loop, especially when they figure out who the donor is.  He also realizes that he's developing feelings he never expected.  I liked the way he was shown his feelings at the end.

The Detective's Accidental Baby - Jacqueline Diamond (HAR #1392 - Feb 2012)

Series: Safe Harbor Medical (Book 7)

She may work at a fertility clinic, but the mommy track is definitely not in dedicated nurse Erica Benford's future. So when a one-night stand with hunky private detective Sherlock Vaughn leads to an unexpected pregnancy, Erica plans the only logical next step....

Becoming a father was the furthest thing from Lock's mind. But he'll be darned if he's going to sign away his rights to his own child! Lock knows how it feels to be unwanted, and no way is he giving up his son or daughter for adoption. If Erica isn't ready for parenthood, he'll go it alone.

Except -- what does he know about being a dad? Nurse Erica will just have to train the single father-to-be. And hope she doesn't lose her heart to both of them in the process!

This book was pretty good, though it didn't appeal as much as previous books in the series.  Both characters started out not wanting to ever have children, thanks to issues in their pasts.  Thanks to the loss of control one night, and a broken condom, they find themselves soon to be parents.  Erica plans to simply give up the child for adoption and is stunned when Lock states his intention to raise the baby himself.  I really had a problem with how intent she was on convincing him that he couldn't do it.  I really respected his desire to provide a loving home.  It all worked out in the end, but I had to struggle with this one.
