Series: Celebrations Inc. (Book 3)
ALL SHE WANTS FOR CHRISTMAS...
Busted! When Pepper Merriweather's superwealthy daddy is arrested for
fraud -- and the family fortune is kaput -- just before the holidays,
Pepper suddenly finds herself in need of a job. Despite her high-society
connections, no one wants to give her a chance -- no one except
gorgeous billionaire recluse Robert Macintyre.
When he proposes a position that comes with more strings attached than a
symphony orchestra, Pepper knows it's an offer she should refuse. But
beggars can't be choosers. Besides, Pepper knows she has what it takes
to rise to the challenge -- but does she have what it takes to keep her
hands off her irresistible new boss?
Very good book. Pepper needs a job, and a friend gets her an interview with Rob MacIntyre. She briefly met him on a plane and they connected, but if she works for him it's hand off. Their attraction won't go away and soon they aren't able to resist. I really liked both Rob and Pepper. Pepper has been a favorite of mine during this series. For all she was rich, she was very down to earth and a great friend to the others. Her strength was in being able to talk to people, make connections and get donations for the causes she worked for. I loved the way that she became good friends with Rob's sister. I also thought that she was terrific with Rob's son. She was able to relate well with him and was a great help with his care. She carried a lot of guilt over the death of her twin brother when they were kids, but being with Rob and Cody helped her deal with those feelings. I really liked her strength of character also when dealing with paparazzi and people who were nasty to her because of her father. Rob was a great hero. After his son's accident and his divorce, Rob had become something of a hermit. He avoided most social events, preferring to spend his time with Cody. When he met Pepper he couldn't get her off his mind. He hired her to work with him on the fundraising for a local hospital and the more time he spent with her the more he came to care. Her loving attitude toward Cody was the icing on the cake. I really loved the way that he saw Pepper for who she was, not who her father had been. I'm looking forward to Sydney's story.
Series: Celebrations Inc. (Book 2)
EVEN BETTER THAN CHOCOLATE
If Caroline
Coopersmith had her way, she would refuse to run the family firm. She
wouldn't put up with her sister's bridezilla antics. She would sign on
as Celebrations, Inc.'s full-time pastry chef. And just this once, she
would treat herself to something better than Belgian chocolate: a night
of bliss with her sister's best man, journalist Drew Montgomery.
For
Drew, the foundation of a good story is fact. And when it comes to
Caroline, the facts are easy: she makes him feel electrically charged,
and he can't stop daydreaming about a future with her. Drew has never
believed in love at first sight...until now. If he gives in to Caroline
today, will she make room for him in her heart tomorrow?
Very good book. Caroline and Drew met at her sister's wedding and the attraction was instant and strong. After their night together they start spending more time together. Caroline loves her work with Celebrations and would love to give up her day job and do it full time. Being with Drew gives her the courage to think it might be possible. Everything is going well until Drew's paper starts an investigation that will impact Caroline's friends and family. I really liked both Caroline and Drew. Caroline is leading two lives. She works for her dad's accounting firm, where she is being groomed for leadership. But she really hates the idea of doing that. Her real love is the baking she does for her friends' catering company. When she indulges in a night of passion with Drew she starts to realize what she really wants to do. She finally tells her father she has no intention of taking his place. It takes several tries, but he finally gets it. The time she spends with Drew opens her eyes to the way things could be, and she falls hard for him. Drew also fell hard for Caroline. It's unusual to have a hero who is that open to his feelings - they usually seem to fight it hard. The only problem he has is figuring out how to reconcile the story his paper is doing with the way he feels about her. I think he did a marvelous job of making sure he separated himself from the story so that there would be no conflict of interest. The argument he and Caroline got into over it showed how deep their emotions were. I was glad to see that Drew stuck to his guns and did what had to be done, even though it caused a rift between him and Caroline. I liked the way that Pepper made her see sense, and that Caroline and Drew were able to overcome their problems. I'm looking forward to the next book.
Series: Celebrations Inc. (Book 1)
The groom came ... COD? Well, maybe not exactly. But just when
unlucky-in-love AJ (that's Agnes Jane to you!) had decided that she was
going to focus on her career as a caterer and keep her mind off men,
that's when fate sent her a delivery she couldn't ignore. In the form of
Sergeant Shane Harrison, bearer of French chocolates, and newly arrived
for a short-term project. And though clearly the good sergeant was as
attracted to the lovely caterer as she was to him, Shane made it clear
that when his job was done, he was outta there….
So now AJ has a project of her own -- convincing the handsome footloose
soldier that though he'd planned to breeze through town on his way to
his next adventure, falling in love is the biggest adventure of all!
Good book. Shane is in Celebrations working on a short-term project for the Army. He stopped in to see AJ after being given some French chocolates for her by a candymaker in Marseilles. He is immediately attracted to her and wants to get to know her better. AJ's catering business is picking up speed and she doesn't need the distraction of a good-looking man who won't be staying around. But there's something about him that makes her want to get closer. I really liked both Shane and AJ. Shane's career keeps him always on the move, which is fine with him. He lost his entire family in a tragic way when he was eighteen, and has made the conscious decision to avoid love and commitment to prevent those feelings of loss from happening again. But first he finds a stray dog that adopts him, then he discovers that AJ is making him feel things he'd never felt before. He gets involved with helping AJ with her business, and gets to know and like some of the local people. I really like AJ also. She has worked really hard to make her catering business successful, in spite of the snotty attitude of her grandmother. I loved seeing her work her business and how much she enjoyed cooking for people. She is very attracted to Shane but us also very cautious. Her fiance had been a cop and was killed on duty five years earlier. Shane is the first man she has been interested in since then. She tries to tell herself she can handle a short-term thing, but soon finds herself wishing for more. I really liked the way that they both were finally able to open themselves up to love, and their solution on being together was perfect. I loved how her friends supported and helped her, and I'm really looking forward to their stories.
