Series: Dynasties: The Kincaids (Book 6)
Winner-take-all business tycoon Jack Sinclair is on the hunt to get
what's his: a slice of competing shipping empire The Kincaid Group. As
the illegitimate and ignored heir, his reward has been a long time
coming. And he has sexy, brilliant Nikki Thomas by his side to help make
it happen. Right?
Not exactly. Nikki is a corporate investigator on the Kincaids' payroll,
so her loyalty is more than a little divided. Her hidden agenda is
enough to make Jack want to walk away. But passion offers a second
chance -- until another truth is revealed that could tear them apart for
good.
Very good book. This is the final chapter in the story of the Kincaids. The lead-in is found at the end of end of each of the previous five books, where we see how Jack and Nikki meet, and the beginning of their relationship. When the series first started, Jack was a first class SOB, intent on revenge. He has always felt like an outsider, due to the fact that his father kept Jack and his mother secret from the rest of the family. Nikki worked for the Kincaids, but tried to keep her work for them separate from her relationship with Jack, but knew the day of reckoning was coming. When it did, Jack was very angry. But, he did get over it pretty quickly, when he understood that Nikki had not betrayed him. Nikki felt she knnew Jack very well, and was very good at making him see his actions and those of others in a different way. She was also determined that he would become part of the family, though he resisted all the way. She also had yet to fill anyone in on the owner of the missing ten percent of shares. There was also the ongoing mystery of who had killed Reginald Kincaid, though that was not too hard to figure out. I really liked the way they worked together to discover the murderer. I also loved the conclusion, with the outcome of the board meeting and then the family dinner at Jack's house.
Series: Dynasties: The Kincaids (Book 4)
It's hard for events planner Kara Kincaid to be planning her sister's
wedding to the man Kara's had a crush on since childhood. Even harder
when said sister calls the whole thing off. Hardest still is when the
jilted groom shows Kara some very personal attention, threatening to
destroy her relationship with her family -- and Kara ends up in his bed
anyway.
After a just-friends engagement that just didn't work, hotel magnate Eli
Houghton thinks he's finally found the right woman. His new plan:
convince Kara there's no hidden agenda, and that the magic words are I
do....
Very good book. I could see in the earlier books that the relationship between Eli and Laurel wasn't the strongest, so the end of their engagement wasn't a surprise. It was something of a surprise to me that Eli fixated on Kara so quickly, but he was surprised by the flare of attraction he felt that night he went to her house. Once he realized that the feelings he had for Kara were far stronger than those he had felt for Laurel, he set out to convince her that they belonged together. He had some great ways to do it (besides the obvious) and I loved their picnic on the beach. Kara had been in love with Eli for years, and wasn't convinced that his pursuit of her wasn't just some sort of rebound thing. I loved the ending when she went to him at the park, and again at the dinner with her family. I'm really looking forward to the next two books in the series - I think I know who the bad guy is, but I'm not positive.
Series: Dynasties: The Kincaids (Book 3)
Boss whisperer Brooke Nichols has never seen RJ Kincaid act like this.
True, his mother is in jail for murdering his father, and an
illegitimate brother has all but stolen the shipping dynasty RJ's worked
so hard to safeguard. But that's no excuse for bad behavior. So, as a
good assistant should, Brooke pulls him aside and pours him a drink.
Resulting in a kiss…or two. If only she didn't have a secret that could
tear the Kincaid family apart, maybe this fantasy could last forever. If
only…
While this one was pretty good, I didn't enjoy it as much as the first two books in the series. I had a hard time warming up to RJ. I know his life sucks right now, but the constant anger was very draining to read. I also thought he was pretty tacky in his pursuit of Brooke. He didn't seem to care at all about her reputation if someone had seen them. Brooke was ok, except for keeping her secret when she should have told it right away. I'm beginning to suspect who the bad guy is here, and I'm looking forward to seeing if I am right.
