Series: Kowalskis (Book 3)
Love blossoms when you least expect it...
Emma Shaw needs a husband, and fast! Not because she's interested in
romance -- after all, she's too busy with her landscaping company -- but
because Grandma Shaw is coming to town, and she will have nonstop
questions about Emma's (stagnant) love life.
Sean Kowalski no sooner leaves the army than he's recruited by Emma to
be her fake fiance. Sean doesn't like the deception, but he can't help
his attraction to the feisty brunette. A little pretend kissing won't
hurt anyone -- especially when there's no chance he'll fall for a woman
with deep roots in a town he's not planning to call home. But when fake,
innocent kisses lead to very real, explosive sparks, Emma and Sean
discover that their big ruse might just lead to happily-ever-after....
Good book. I liked the idea behind Emma's request of Sean - she really did want to set her grandmother's at rest. Sean couldn't believe he had agreed to participate in the deception, but he couldn't stop thinking about her. I loved the way that they started the pretending and things started getting real. Sean seemed to be so intent on moving on that he didn't see what was right in front of him. I really enjoyed seeing Emma's grandmother get with Mary Kowalski and collaborate on keeping Sean and Emma doing their deception so they would see how right they are for each other. I really liked the interaction between Sean and Emma as they learned about each other. I loved the way that Sean's cousins picked on him and the part where Mary was giving advice to Sean with the wooden spoon to the back of the head was great.
Series: Kowalskis (Book 2)
Can a one-night stand turn into happily ever after?
Bar owner Kevin Kowalski is used to women throwing their phone numbers
at him. Even if lately he's been more interested in finding Mrs. Right
than Miss Right Now. Enter Beth Hansen.
Kevin and Beth may have started out all wrong, with an impromptu
passionate encounter at a wedding, followed by a walk of shame. Yet
Kevin knows there's more to their relationship than a one-night stand.
Especially when Beth turns up pregnant.
Kevin may be ready for the "next step," but Beth doesn't want a
relationship with a former playboy, however irresistible he might be.
And it's going to take a lot to convince her to go on a second date with
the father of her child....
I liked this book even better than the first one. Kevin found that he was getting very tired of the playboy life he had been leading, and was looking for a chance at a more settled life. When he first saw Beth at his bar one night, then again at his brother's wedding, he really wanted to get to know her better. When she ends up pregnant after their one night stand, he is at first stunned, then incredibly happy. He would like nothing better than to marry Beth and become a family. Beth has been a rolling stone for several years. She spent most of her life being smothered in love from her parents. So when she starts having people get too close, she pulls up stakes and moves on. Now that she is pregnant, she can't do that. She refuses to give up her independence, and will only allow a friendship between herself and Kevin, for fear that he only wants to get close because of the baby. She's afraid that it would end badly and she'd be tied to someone who would come to hate her. I was really impressed by Kevin's ability to be patient with Beth's phobias. He knew that he loved her and just had to be patient enough to overcome her fears. I did want to shake her a few times and tell her to open her eyes. I loved the way that his family made her part of them without making a big deal about, that they listened to Kevin when he told them not to smother her. I really enjoyed seeing the advice he got from the other guys, especially Joe. There were some really funny parts, but I think my favorite was Kevin's reaction to the first childbirth class. I also enjoyed the side story of Paulie and Sam. I thought the way he kept coming back was terrific. The way he stood up to her parents was fantastic and showed that he finally got what she'd been trying to tell him.
Series: Kowalskis (Book 1)
When Keri Daniels's boss finds out she has previous carnal knowledge of
reclusive bestselling author Joe Kowalski, she gives Keri a choice: get
an interview or get a new job.
Joe's never forgotten the first girl to break his heart, so he's
intrigued to hear Keri's back in town -- and looking for him. He
proposes an outrageous plan -- for every day she survives with his
family on their annual camping trip, Keri can ask one question.
The chemistry between Joe and Keri is as potent as the bug spray, but
Joe's sister is out to avenge his broken heart, and Keri hasn't ridden
an ATV since she was ten. Who knew a little blackmail, a whole lot of
family and some sizzling romantic interludes could make Keri reconsider
the old dream of Keri & Joe 2gether 4ever?
Good book. Keri was really not happy to be stuck camping with Joe and his family. She is a city girl from California these days, and fresh air and bugs are no longer in her list of things to do. But if she wants to keep the job she has worked so hard for, she doesn't have a choice. Joe has given her a list of rules, and she has to follow them or lose the chance. Joe set this up, not so much for a chance to get even with Keri for leaving him, as to have a chance to spend some time with her. They quickly discover that their attraction hasn't diminished in 20 years. Keri quickly finds herself having lots of fun and enjoying being around Joe's family again. Joe also finds himself enjoying Keri the adult, and both realize that they have fallen back in love. They also discover that they still have the same problem - her job is in California and he doesn't want to leave New Hampshire. I really wasn't sure by the end how they were going to work everything out. I loved some of the situations with the kids, and there were some pretty funny things with the adults too. I enjoyed seeing the relationship issues with Joe's siblings also.
