Series: Princess Camp (Book 2)
Gift-wrapped family
San Diego hockey team's PR director Elle Austin goes beyond the call of
duty to keep their rebel captain in check-even playing nanny to his son!
Max Beasley knows nothing about looking after a baby, so he enlists
Elle's help after little Troy is left on his doorstep by his
irresponsible ex.
Maybe it's the spirit of Christmas, or seeing Max's softer side, but
Elle wishes he saw her as more than just an employee, and that they
could give Troy the best gift of all-a family!
Excellent book. I really liked both Elle and Max. Elle is the youngest in a family with four older brothers. She has been inundated in the sports world all her life. She would really like to find a man who can also appreciate other things in life. When she is called in to help Max with his son, she is very leery. Max is known as The Beast on the ice and is famous for being a commitment phobic loner. She has been unwillingly attracted to him for months, but he doesn't fit her idea of what she wants. As she helps Max with Troy, she begins to see another side of him. She is impressed by his determination to reclaim custody of his son and how good he is with the little boy. As she finds out more about his past she discovers why he seems to keep everyone at a distance, but it only makes her want to get closer to him. I love the way she is able to stand up to him when she's trying to do her job and help him. She is very good at not being intimidated. There is a great scene at a family birthday party when she lays into her brothers for being obnoxious, and another when she faces down Troy's mother. Max was a very interesting guy. He is very intense when he's playing hockey, and very much a private guy off the ice. When we first see him, Elle is bailing him and his teammates out of jail after a fight. It's soon obvious that he is a good influence on the team, even though he doesn't see it. He's a bit lost when he first takes over full time care of Troy. He appears to take great pleasure in making things tough for Elle and playing the bad boy with her. He had been attracted to her for a year, but because of his past feels that he has nothing to offer her. I loved seeing him open up to her in a way he never has with anyone else. There are some great peeks into his past and the things that made him the man he is. I loved the scene with him and Elle's family. I also loved the final scene at the Gala - an absolutely perfect ending.
Returning from his latest Border Patrol
assignment, Jeremy Hill seeks sanctuary in his twin brother's home. The
last thing he expects to find is an armed man already inside, or
Meredith Samms, a gorgeous tenant caught in the cross fire. Then he
discovers that the gunman's attack is meant for his twin brother, who is
nowhere in sight, and Jeremy must take matters into his own hands.
Searching for his brother while trying to protect this girl next door,
Jeremy finds himself caught up in the danger he'd become all too
familiar with. In his world, everyone's a target and anyone can be a
suspect, so Jeremy has no room for emotions. But what Meredith stirs
within him may complicate this unexpected mission to the point of no
return….
Very good book. Jeremy saves Meredith and then they go looking for his brother Garrett. They are attacked again just before they find him. With Garrett's help and that of his team and fiancee, they work to get away from the killer. But it seems that no matter what they do, the bad guys find them. They realize that there is a bad guy on the inside and must work to find out who it is, and stop the man behind him. I liked Meredith a lot. Because of her past, she has become strong in heart and able to defend herself. She had a problem with an abuser and has overcome that, but is still cautious around men. She immediately trusted Jeremy and saw the honorable man under the surface. I really liked the way that she saw some things more clearly than he did. I also loved the way that she saw the strength in Sara that all the guys were sure wasn't there. Jeremy was living with guilt from not being able to protect another woman, This makes him over protective where Meredith is concerned. I loved the way that Sara and Meredith quickly became friends and commiserated over the cluelessness of the Hill men. There were some really great parts where the guys were being truly idiotic and the women were trying not to strangle them. I loved the way they worked everything out at the end.
Series: Sullivan Brothers (Book 6)
An orphan baby wasn't on playboy Rett Sullivan's Christmas list, but as the holidays approach, he finds himself drowning in a sea of bottles, nappies and toys!
Skye Miller was shocked to learn her late brother and sister-in-law left their little daughter in the care of Rett, her brother's best friend...and Skye's first love.
The only way to protect her heart is to help the novice daddy and baby bond, then make a graceful exit. But the sight of Rett's strong arms cradling the baby makes Skye weak at the knees....
Good book. I liked Rett a lot. He had matured since he and Skye had lost their baby and broken up. He found himself as father to a little girl and was really terrified that he didn't know what to do. Skye was named as co-guardian, but was afraid to get too close. She had loved and lost so many people in her life that she felt that as long as she didn't let her emotions get involved she would be safe. She found out quickly that Ryanne got into her heart very easily. She also discovered that her feelings for Rett never really went away. Rett initially proposed a love-free marriage, but soon realized that he wanted the whole deal. He also knew that Skye still loved him, but was afraid of those feelings. I loved the way he convinced her.
