The Mighty Quinns: Ronan - Kate Hoffmann (HB #719 - Nov 2012)

Series: The Mighty Quinns (Book 21)

He didn't stand a chance…

There's a curse in Sibleyville, Maine. Thanks to a long-ago feud between the Sibleys and the Quinns, residents are destined never to find lasting love together. Unfortunately, when Ronan Quinn steps off the bus in Sibleyville, he has no idea what he's stepped in…until the very sexy Charlotte Sibley gives him a job, a room and the scoop on her family's 200-year-old curse!

Still, there's a feverish attraction heating up between Ronan and Charlotte. And with Ronan leaving in six weeks, they'll make every second -- and every night -- count! But now, convinced that a Sibley-Quinn marriage could finally end the curse, everyone in town is suddenly a matchmaker.

But do Ronan and Charlotte really want to turn this Fun Little Fling into a Forever?

Loved the book and Ronan and Charlotte.  Ronan is the youngest of the brothers and seems to have been affected the most by the loss of his parents.  He had nightmares as a kid and was never able to go back out on the ocean with his brothers.  He also became a bit of a loner, happiest when doing things by himself.  When his grandfather sends him off to Maine, he isn't sure what is going to happen.  When he lands a job with Charlotte Sibley at her oyster business he is stunned by the immediate attraction he feels for her.  He's even more surprised to find that she feels the same about him.  He finds that he really enjoys his work in the oyster business and can truly see himself staying there.  He also finds that the more time he spends with her the more he likes Charlotte.  That liking and the passion they share have him more convinced that he wants to keep her in his life forever.  I really like the way that Ronan is so laid back.  He is really good at not letting things bother him too much, even the matchmaking attempts of the whole town.  I also liked the way that he was able to open up and share his feelings with her the way he never had with anyone else.  It was one of the things that made him realize how much he loved her.  I really liked Charlotte also.  She was very independent but also family oriented. She chased her dream in New York, but came home when she discovered that home meant more to her.  After her father's injury she's been running the business and is glad to take on Ronan as an employee.  She is surprised by their attraction and quite willing to enjoy it.  She and her family don't believe in the curse but everyone else in town does and it makes her crazy.  She can't stand the way the whole town is trying to push them together into marriage, when she knows he's supposed to leave in six weeks.  As they spend more and more time together they learn about each other's pasts and she discovers that she is falling in love with him.  She has some soul searching to do when she has to decide if it's really possible for her to have fallen in love in only three weeks.  I loved their relationship which was not only passionate but also full of fun.  They worked well together from the very beginning.  I also really liked her family which was full of some unique personalities.  The meeting of the grandfather and the four brothers and their ladies was the perfect wrap up to the series.

The Mighty Quinns: Cameron - Kate Hoffmann (HB #712 - Oct 2012)

Series: The Mighty Quinns (Book 20)

Will she change his world…or rock it? Yacht designer Cameron Quinn knows life can shift in a moment. But when he accepts his grandfather's quest -- six weeks to start over from scratch -- he certainly isn't expecting to be stranded in a dusty town in New Mexico. The upside? He's found himself working for a stunning private investigator…and the heat between them is hotter than the desert!

As far as P.I. Sofie Reyes is concerned, Cam's desperation is her salvation. She needs all the help she can get with the case she's working on. And despite the serious chemistry between them, romance is definitely not on Sofie's agenda. But with six weeks of Cam all to herself, there's nothing wrong with getting a little naughty… All she has to do is figure out how to keep this drop-dead-sexy man in her bed -- and out of her life!

Very good book.  It is Cam's turn to go out and spend six weeks deciding what he wants from his life.  When he arrives in Vulture Creek it is imperative that he find a job.  When gorgeous PI Sofie offers him a job with her, he takes it.  I really liked both Cam and Sofie.  Cam has kept tight control on his emotions ever since his parents' deaths when he was a boy.  He has spent his entire adult life working for the family business and not doing much else.  He is immediately attracted to Sofie and welcomes the chance to work with her.  During the time they spend together their attraction grows.  He also discovers that he likes the area and enjoys the new things he is being exposed to through Sofie.  I loved seeing his interactions with her brothers and the rest of the family.  I also loved seeing him realize how much Sofie has come to mean to him and how far he is willing to go to make sure she is happy.  Sofie is working as a PI until she recovers from injuries she received on the job as a police officer.  She is bitter about her lack of progress and feels the loss of her identity as she sees it.  She is very attracted to Cam and wants to pursue the attraction but doesn't feel that there is a chance of any future in it.  She and Cam have some pretty deep conversations about needs and their views of their lives and so on.  I loved the way that she did the same thing he had done and took six weeks to go find her own future.  The conclusion was great and now I can't wait for Ronan's story and to see how the series winds up.

The Mighty Quinns: Kieran - Kate Hoffmann (HB #707 - Sept 2012)

Series: The Mighty Quinns (Book 19)

How do you start a life from scratch? On a quest set by his Irish grandfather, businessman Kieran Quinn is trying to figure that out when his destiny comes sailing through the bus station door in the form of smokin'-hot country music star Maddie West. She's desperate and on the run. And Kieran's future suddenly looks a lot like trouble…sexy, irresistible trouble!

The attraction between Maddie and Kieran is immediate…and electrifying. With Maddie hiding from the press and her overbearing mother, they impulsively decide to make a break for it. Now they're both on the run -- and it's turning into one sizzlin' sexcapade!

But they only have six (sex-filled) weeks to escape their fate…or find a new one!

Very good book.  It's Kieran's turn to fulfill his grandfather's wishes and follow a dream.  While taking a bus to the little town of Bitney KY, Kieran meets Maddie.  She is a country music star who is basically running away from home.  She has been doing tours and concerts since she was fourteen, and her life is run by her mother.  She enlists Kieran's help to get her to her grandparents' home near Bitney.  Trying to keep Maddie's anonymity is a challenge and they find themselves making plans that are constantly changing.  They are also dealing with an intense attraction to each other, even though they don't think it has a future.  I really liked both Kieran and Maddie.  Kieran has been challenged by his grandfather to take six weeks and try a new life.  When he meets Maddie at the bus station he is immediately hooked and attracted.  He decides to help her escape her responsibilities for awhile.  During their trip he has to learn to relax his need to control every little thing.  His exposure to Maddie's way of doing everything on a whim is a real eye opener for him.  He learns that it is possible to be spontaneous without bad things happening.  I loved the way that he was able to have fun with Maddie.  He also enjoyed the chemistry they had, and soon found that it was deepening into something lasting.  I loved the way he was able to support her on her quest to take back her life.  He encouraged her to stand up for what she wanted instead of running away.  Maddie was terrific too.  Because of her celebrity status, she had not had a normal life and had not experienced any of the things a normal teenager would have.  When she escaped from her mom she went a little overboard on trying to do everything she hadn't been able to do.  She was pretty clueless on how to do a lot of things, she would just throw money at the problem and move on.  I loved the way that her impulsiveness rubbed off on Kieran, and the way that he would try to help her do things in a more controlled manner.  She was so frustrated with not being able to have input into her life that she reacted by running away.  Every time that something came up that she didn't want to deal with on the trip she would change the direction of where or how they were going.  Kieran was very good at helping her see what she was doing and encouraging her to stand up for herself.  I loved the way he was able to help her and her mother see the financial problems the tour was having and how.  The ending when Maddie showed up at the boatyard was really fun.  I'm looking forward to the next two books in the series.

The Mighty Quinns: Dermot - Kate Hoffmann (HB #702 - Aug 2012)

Series: The Mighty Quinns (Book 18)

Salesman Dermot Quinn plays the smooth charmer to perfection. But when his grandfather issues a challenge to his grandsons—start a new life with next to nothing—Dermot finds himself on the doorstep of a Wisconsin farm. And now he's face-to-face with a woman who makes him lose every bit of his cool!

Farm owner Rachel Howe once had her own dreams. Now she's faced with ruin and losing the family business. On the surface, Dermot looks like he could be the answer to her problems, not to mention her empty bed and lonely nights.

But six weeks doesn't seem so long when you find the love of your life….

I loved this book.  Dermot's grandfather sent he and his three brothers out on their own to experience life outside their boatbuilding business.  Dermot ended up in Mapleton, WI, helping out at a goat dairy.  He showed up looking for a job just when Rachel needed some help to keep things going.  At first she didn't think Dermot was serious about the job.  He was obviously well-off and certainly didn't need a job that only paid a small amount.  But she was immediately attracted to him and took a chance.  They quickly acted on that attraction and found themselves in a relationship that was more intense than they expected.  Dermot also discovered that he was enjoying his time on the farm.  He began to wonder if he wanted to go back to Seattle, or to remain with Rachel.  Meanwhile, Rachel was trying to come to some decisions of her own.  She had promised her father she would keep the farm going, but it wasn't really what she wanted to do.  Both Dermot and Rachel had inner conflicts about where their relationship was going. Then her sister's marriage fell apart and she sent her teenage sons to Rachel for awhile to get them away from the stress.  Rachel was worried about trying to be a parent to them and Dermot was able to help her with that. The boys took to the life, and then their mother came to the farm also and offered to help run it, freeing Rachel to follow her dreams.  I loved the way that Dermot and Rachel stayed in touch after he went home and they began to get to know more about each other.  It made the conclusion of the story even more satisfying.  I'm looking forward to the other books.
