Series: Highest Bidder (Book 6)
Nothing will stop him....
In his Arabian kingdom, Crown Prince Raif Khouri commands, and women do
his will...but then he meets headstrong American Ann Richardson. To get
back the priceless statue he's convinced her minions stole, Raif kidnaps
her!
Held captive by the sexy prince and mired in scandal at her auction
house, Ann has her hands full. How can she convince Raif she's
innocent...and convince her traitorous body to resist his sultry kisses?
But after one night with the woman his duty will never let him have, it's Raif who realizes the high price of ransom-his heart!
Very good book and terrific conclusion to the series. I really liked both Raif and Ann. Ann has been at the center of scandal since the first book. The controversy over the statue and accusations of theft have made her life very difficult. Now Raif has taken her and won't let her go until he has the statue. In every encounter with him the attraction gets stronger. Once they get past the issue of the statue Ann finds that there in a lot in Raif that she respects and likes. She soon realizes that she has fallen in love with him but that it can't go anywhere. He will soon be king and cannot marry her. I liked seeing her time in Rayas and how she managed there. I liked her determination to help find the statue and how she wanted to help Raif's cousin Kalila. I also liked the way that she was so willing to give him up so he could do the right thing. I loved Raif. He has that whole alpha male confidence thing going on, and the certainty that duty is more important than anything else. Watching him realize that love matters was very satisfying. He was so sure that he was right and willing to do anything to get his statue back. He had great interactions with his cousin Tariq over his actions with Ann. He was very focused on his goal and couldn't understand why he could not get Ann out of his mind. I liked his protectiveness when he decided that whatever was going on with the statue might be a plot against Ann and that he needed to keep her safe. He was miserable over the fact that he couldn't have Ann. I loved the conclusion and his methods. The mystery of who was behind the trouble was solved. Also solved was the identity of the man who helped each of the six couples find their happy endings.
Series: The Highest Bidder (Book 5)
Elizabeth Minerva tries to steer clear of
legendary adventurer Roark Black and focus on her career and her
attempts at motherhood. But the rakish treasure hunter can help her in
her quest to be a single mom, if she'll do him one tiny favor....
To save his beloved auction house and his own reputation from ruin,
Roark needs to settle down fast -- with a sensible woman. After a
six-month "engagement," he and Elizabeth can go their separate ways.
But Roark knows priceless objects, and Elizabeth is the real deal. Now he intends to keep her...by any means necessary.
Very good book. I have been looking forward to Roark's book and it was just as good as I expected. Roark needs help to rescue the auction house and preserve his reputation. It was suggested to him that it would help if he were seen to be settling down. He had met Elizabeth and was attracted to her, so he offered to help her if she would help him. I really liked both Elizabeth and Roark. Elizabeth has made the decision that she wants a family of her own. She has had bad luck with men, ending up with losers who end up hurting her. So she has tried in vitro, but has been unsuccessful and is out of money. By helping Roark she will get enough to try again. She finds that her attraction to him is interfering with her ability to keep her distance. When she decides to just give in and enjoy it, she finds that she is also falling for him. I enjoyed the way that, even though she was falling for him, she still managed to stand up to him when she needed to. I also liked the way that she began to see the Roark that he worked so hard to keep hidden. I also loved the way she got what she wanted in the most unexpected way. I've liked Roark from the beginning of the series. I love the way that he works so hard to find the artifacts and that he gets them in an honest way. I could see that his travels were a way for him to escape the guilt he felt over leaving his mother. He wants to help save the auction house so he goes to Elizabeth with his proposal. This serves two purposes. It makes him appear to be settling down and it also allows him to get closer to her. He has been drawn to her from the moment he met her. What he doesn't expect is that being with Elizabeth makes him feel more content than he ever has before. When he is away from her she is never far from his mind. When he finds out the truth about his parents it frees him from some of his guilt and enables him to offer all of himself to Elizabeth. I'm really looking forward to the next book and the resolution of the mystery.
Series: The Highest Bidder (Book 4)
Vanessa Partridge has a good reason for wanting
the priceless manuscript being offered at auction—it is her twin babies'
legacy. But she doesn't count on the winning bidder, financial guru
Chase Harrington, showing up on her doorstep.
Chase has a new
obsession—Vanessa. There's more to the
former-socialite-turned-working-single-mom than meets the eye…and he's
going to find it. He's got secrets of his own—secrets threatened by the
sexy Vanessa. More than anything, Chase wants to give in to their
sizzling attraction…but can he afford to play with fire?
Very good book. Vanessa has tried to get the manuscript, but failed in her bid at the auction. When Chase showed up at her home, she felt an immediate attraction to him. Chase also felt the attraction and is fascinated by Vanessa. He senses that she has secrets and is determined to find out what they are. As they spend time together, the attraction grows and changes. I really liked both Vanessa and Chase. Vanessa has left behind her wealthy but judgmental family and is working at a job she loves and raising her twin daughters. She really wanted that manuscript since it was written by the girls' father. She doesn't like Chase at all at first since he is accusing her of rigging the auction. She is also very attracted to him, but doesn't want to be. She finds that they have things in common and enjoy spending time together. His ease with her children surprises her and makes her fall for him a little more. Chase is a pretty terrific hero. He has his secrets that he tries to protect, mostly about his early life. He had bad experiences with rich kids when he was a teenager and it affects his outlook on other people. He initially thought that Vanessa was like them and it took awhile before he really saw the differences. I loved the way he was so good with kids and how much he liked them. He had a good heart and I really liked the way that he eventually opened up to Vanessa. His proposal at the end was fantastic.
Series: The Highest Bidder (Book 3)
London-based artist Avery Cullen refuses to sell
her late father's art collection. But bold, brash Marcus Price will try
everything to get her to reconsider. He even launches an all-out sexual
siege on the lonely heiress in the gilded cage.
Securing the collection would be a coup for his auction house, but for
Marcus, it would settle a lifelong score. He's managed to keep his true
motives hidden along with his family's skeletons…and now he's so close,
he can taste success in Avery's kiss. But after their torrid night of
passion, is Marcus prepared for the outcome?
Good book. Marcus has come to London to try, yet again, to get Avery to sell her father's art collection. It would be a great thing for the auction house, and put him on the road to becoming a partner. There is also one particular painting he wants for himself - one that has great sentimental value to his family. Avery doesn't want to sell the collection. It is something that meant a lot to her father and she is clinging to that memory. When she meets Marcus face to face there is an immediate attraction there. She offers to help him with a project for his boss if he will help her find a statue that used to be in her garden. As they spend time together working on these projects, their attraction grows along with deeper feelings. Circumstances cause them to marry, and shortly after that Marcus's skeletons come out to cause a rift between them. I loved the resolution of her search, and Marcus's realization of what is really important. I liked both Marcus and Avery although I frequently wanted to smack him. Marcus had a bit of tunnel vision when it came to the painting he wanted, and that caused him to keep secrets he shouldn't have kept. Marcus had gone to great lengths to overcome what he saw as negatives in his childhood, not understanding that they made him the man he was today. These "secrets" ending up costing him Avery's trust, which was hard for him to regain. I liked Avery a bit better. Her father had been emotionally distant after the death of Avery's mother and this caused some self esteem issues with Avery. Marcus was good for her in that he saw her for the wonderful person that she was. She knew she was falling for him, but sensed that there were things he wasn't telling her. When they came out she felt betrayed and it took someone else pointing out the things that made her love him should cause her to give him a second chance. I did like the final scenes when they made up.

Series: The Highest Bidder (Book 2)
Sold to the Sexy Cowboy!
For Macy Tarlington,
the only good part of seeing her legendary mother's possessions sold at
auction is ogling Carter McCay, the tall Texan who buys the famous
diamond ring. Even better is seeing him again when he rescues her from
the paparazzi like a white knight in a Stetson.
Carter whisks her
to safety at Wild River Ranch, hiding her identity by day and lusting
after her by night. Yes, he's sworn off love. But with the Hollywood
runaway starring in his every fantasy, Carter may find Macy too much
temptation-even for a hard-hearted cowboy.
Good book. I liked both Macy and Carter. Macy had to sell her mother's things in order to settle her mom's debts and also settle a couple lawsuits against herself. I liked the way she stood up for herself in the actions that caused her to be sued. Carter was hurt by his girlfriend's refusal of his proposal and swore he'd never propose to another woman. He and Macy had noticed each other at the auction and felt an immediate attraction, but never expected to see each other again. When he saw Macy being hounded by the paparazzi, he stepped in and rescued her, then invited her to his ranch to get away. Macy immediately fell in love with the place, and soaked up the peace and quiet. Then she talked Carter into letting her restore a building on his property, which gave her a sense of purpose that she had been missing. I loved the way that Carter and Macy spent time together getting to know each other and sharing their lives and dreams. When they finally gave in to their passion there was a connection that was deeper than just the physical, even though neither wanted to admit it. When Macy reached the conclusion that Carter was never going to love her, she left and went home. It took Carter awhile, and a discussion with one of his employees/friends, before he realized that he loved Macy and wanted her in his life forever. I loved the story of the ring, and the conclusion of the story was great.
Series: The Highest Bidder (Book 1)
Defending His Legacy...At Any Cost
When
scandal threatens the luxury auction house that bears his family's
name, Vance Waverly suspects the media feeding frenzy is an inside job.
Could his gorgeous assistant, Charlotte Potter, be plotting Waverly's
downfall? There's one way to find out: seduce the truth out of her!
Charlie
is between a rock and a hard place. She can reveal Waverly's secrets to
her unidentified blackmailer or lose custody of her child. Whatever she
does, she'll lose the career she loves. But losing the man she's come to love-her big, bad boss-could put her over the edge....
Good book. The book starts with a news story printed about Waverly's CEO that threatens the business. Vance is determined that nothing will bring it down. He is concerned that his new assistant may be the one leaking information to the press. He decides that getting close to her would be a good idea - no hardship as he is very attracted to her. Charlie doesn't know what to do. She has been receiving blackmail emails, threatening her son if she doesn't comply. When Vance asks her out, and is good to her and her son, she keeps trying to delay the blackmailer. Finally, she can't stand it any more and tells Vance everything. As they work together to find the blackmailer, they continue to grow closer. I really liked both Vance and Charlie. I love the way that Charlie wants only the best for her son, and works hard to make that happen. She loves the auction business and is trying to learn everything she can about it. I also liked the way that she refused to give in to the blackmailer and went to Vance. Vance was a little harder to like at the beginning, with his decision to try to romance Charlie for information. I did like the fact that that didn't last past the first time they went out together. I loved seeing him in the kid-friendly restaurant, so completely out of his comfort zone. I also liked how quickly he came to care for both Charlie and Jake, even though he didn't recognize it as love. It took their falling out at the end for him to realize just why he felt so right when he was with them. I'm looking forward to the rest of the series.
