Secrets, Lies and Lullabies - Heidi Betts (HD #2193 - Nov 2012)

Series: Billionaires and Babies

Rock-a-Bye Billionaire
No problem's too big for CEO Alexander Bajoran...until a baby is left in his boardroom with a note stating he's the daddy. The mother must be Jessica Taylor, an unforgettable though regrettable one-night stand. Why would she do such a thing?

When Jessica returns, desperate and remorseful, there's no way Alex will let her walk away with his son. And after discovering that she's connected to his jewelry empire's biggest rival, the mogul wonders if the pregnancy really was an accident. What will he gamble to keep his heir...and the woman who still has a stranglehold on his heart?

Very good book. I really liked both Alex and Jessica.  Jessica and Alex had had a one night stand and she never expected to see him again. She had been incredibly attracted to him from the beginning, but she recognized him as the man whose company had ruined her family.  Her cousin had convinced her to see if she could find anything with which to get revenge and she had.  Before she could return it, he had left and she hid it away.  When she discovered she was pregnant she left her job at the hotel and tried to find work elsewhere.  By the time the baby was three months old she was desperate and left the baby at his office.  She couldn't just walk away and showed up that night.  Alex wasn't going to just let her walk away, so he convinced her to stay.  I loved Jessica's attitude.  She didn't really mind the loss of her former socialite lifestyle and had been happy with her hotel life.  She knew she shouldn't get involved with Alex but the attraction was too strong to resist.  When she showed up a year later I loved the way she owned up to what she did, but also stood up to him over the things she hadn't done.  I liked the fact that she didn't try to keep the baby away from Alex once he knew.  I also loved the way she surprised him at the fundraiser and how it worked for them.  Alex was also a really great hero.  I liked the fact that even after the one night stand he tried to find her so they could be together.  He was furious over what he saw as her deception and the way she didn't tell him about the baby.  But he did listen to what she told him about her family and investigated.  I loved the way he took to Henry almost right away and how good he was with him.  I really love seeing these tough guys turn to goo over a baby.  It took him a little while to realize what he felt for Jessica was love, but when he did it was fantastic.  I loved seeing what he did about the mess with her family and the epilogue was great.  I do wish I knew what happened with her cousin.

A Father's Secret - Yvonne Lindsay (HD #2187 - Oct 2012)

Series: Billionaires and Babies

There'd been a mistake at the fertility clinic. Now widow Erin Connell has to face the possibility that her baby son is not her husband's child. And worse, that Connell Lodge, her son's legacy and the only real home she's ever known, may be lost to them both.

But billionaire Sam Thornton's arrival at her bed-and-breakfast changes everything. Erin is stunned by the ferocity of her sudden attraction. Sam, too, is thunderstruck…and tormented. He's come here for one reason only, and falling for the pretty owner isn't it. He's not leaving without her son—his son….

Very good book and very emotional.  Erin and her husband had gone through a lot to have their baby boy.  Then her husband died and left her alone to raise baby Riley.  Getting a letter stating that there had been a mix-up and that her son may not be her husband's child devastated her.  To top it all off, she was incredibly attracted to the newest guest at her lodge.  Besides her growing feelings for him, he is so good with her son that it makes her feelings even stronger.  Sam had come to the lodge for one reason - to see his son and take him away with him.  He wasn't expecting the strong attraction and it was causing problems for him.  I really liked both Erin and Sam.  Erin had come to Tahoe to start a new life for herself after a miserable childhood and life as a runaway.  Marrying her husband and having Riley gave her the family and stability she had never known before.  She was terrified that this news would cause her to lose her son and her home.  Her attraction to Sam scared her, but it also filled an emptiness in her.  The more time they spent together the more she fell for him.  Sam had been full of guilt over the death of his wife and the responsibility he felt for it.  He never expected to feel so strongly for another woman.  Her love and care for Riley made his feelings even stronger, but also made him worry about what would happen when she found out who he was.  He did not handle the revelation well and subsequent events made him look like a selfish jerk.  I knew he was good at heart because of the way he cared about Riley, but it took him far too long to see the effects of his actions on Erin.  There were a couple surprise twists at the end.  The emotional turmoil they went through - especially Erin - was hard to read at times, but made for a very satisfying read.

Princess in the Making - Michelle Celmer (HD #217 - Aug 2012)

Series: Billionaires and Babies

Forbidden to Fall in Love
He was only supposed to tempt Vanessa Reynolds away from her plot to become queen. The pretty, single mother may believe she's going to marry his father, but Prince Marcus Salvatora will do everything in his power to prevent a royal marriage.

Yet befriending the lovely American and her adorable baby girl has the debonair bachelor awash in confusion. This woman and her child are not schemers. In fact, they could make his life complete. But once she leaves without a wedding ring, the powerful prince knows he'll be forbidden to ever truly make her his own.

Good book.  Vanessa went to Varieo because the king had asked her to marry him.  He is an older man who had stayed at the hotel where she worked.  They had gotten to know each other and become friends.  She came to Vareio to get to know him better before she said yes or no.  When she arrived, she was met by his son Marcus because the king had been called away.  Marcus had had some bad experiences with women who were after him for his money and position and was sure that Vanessa was like that too.  When he started showing her around by the request of his father, he got to know her and realized that she wasn't the scheming gold digger he thought she was.  Then they fell in love, but realized that nothing could come of it.  Vanessa could no longer marry the king, but she refused to come between him and Marcus.  I liked Marcus, especially after he realized how good Vanessa is.  I liked the way he treated her and I loved how good he was with little Mia.  I liked Vanessa and how concerned she was with the king's feelings.  I also liked the way that she finally dealt with her father.  Overall, a good ending to the book.

Strictly Temporary - Robyn Grady (HD #2169 - July 2012)

Series: Billionaires and Babies

Discovering an abandoned baby in the backseat of a taxi was not on hotelier Zack Harrison's agenda. Luckily, a stunning stranger comes to his aid - and piques his interest. But before Child Services can arrive, a snowstorm strands the trio in Zack's luxurious Colorado cabin.

Trinity Matthews wants to resist Zack's advances, but his care and concern for her and the baby soon have her melting. As the snow falls and the heat sizzles, it's not long before Trinity's sleeping in his bed. And she finds herself wondering if their temporary arrangement could have permanent effects.

Good book.  When Zack found an abandoned baby in  a cab, he didn't know what to do.  When Trinity came to his rescue, they ended up at Zack's home, snowed in.  Zack has a reputation as a ruthless businessman and a playboy.  He does admit to being a committed bachelor with no interest in long term relationships.  Trinity is a product of the foster care system and doesn't intend to go the family route either, as she would have no one as a backup in case something were to happen to her.  When they are snowed in with the baby, they need to provide care for her while fighting their attraction.  Zack isn't comfortable around babies, so he leaves the hand-on stuff to Trinity, at least at the beginning.  It's not long before Trinity has him participating fully, though he still tries to remain emotionally distant.  When the storm is over and the baby is back with her mother, both return to their lives in New York.  Neither one can forget the other, and get together for one of Zack's family's parties.  They are called back to Colorado to help the baby's mother, where she asks Trinity and Zack to adopt the baby to give her a better life.  Zack panics and leaves, while Trinity and the baby's mother come to an arrangement that works for them.  I loved seeing them cope with the baby during the storm, and seeing Zack get won over gave me warm fuzzies.  I wanted to smack him for being so blindly stubborn, and enjoyed his conversations with his brother and father.  I liked the way that Zack came through at the end.

The Paternity Promise - Merline Lovelace (HD #2163 - June 2012)

Series: Billionaires and Babies

"You're the father."

After leaving her late cousin's baby on the Dalton doorstep, Grace Templeton poses as a nanny to discover which of the billionaire twins is the father. Grace promised to protect the child, but she didn't plan to fall for the seductive brother she learns is the daddy.

For single dad Blake, there's only one priority -- protecting his daughter from whatever secrets Grace won't reveal. He'll get the truth from her -- any way he can. And until she talks, he'll keep the temptress at his side all day...all night.

Not as the nanny, but as his wife!

Loved the book.  It was a follow on to The Paternity Proposition  and confirms that Blake is Molly's father.  Blake is stunned, but thrilled to find out he is Molly's father.  Especially since he thought that the woman who was her mother had died well before Molly was born.  When he found out Grace's part in the deception, he was furious.  All Grace had wanted was to find out which man was Molly's father and make sure that Molly would be safe and loved.  Once that was assured, she left them and went home.  Blake showed up a short time later and proposed a marriage to give Molly the family she deserved. Grace was already half in love with him, and went along with the marriage to be close to Molly.  Blake knew that Grace was still keeping secrets, but wanted her in his life anyway.  I loved seeing them spend time together on their honeymoon in France, and watch them get to know each other.  I could see Blake falling under Grace's spell, and Grace fall the rest of the way in love.  When they returned to Oklahoma City, and Grace's attempts to protect her cousin Hope from her abusive husband came to light, both of them had to decide what they were willing to put into their marriage.  When Blake nearly lost Grace, he finally realized just how much he cared.

The Ties That Bind - Emilie Rose (HD #2157 - May 2012)

Series: Billionaires and Babies (Book 28)

He never intended to be a father. Yet an ex's underhanded actions result in a baby even jaded Pierce Hollister cannot deny. He needs a nanny immediately. But Anna Aronson, the perfect woman for the job, has her own infant to care for. Now Mr. Solitary is living in a home filled with babies!

The domestic situation completely rocks Pierce's carefully constructed world, and his attempts to keep his distance are soon compromised by the desirable Anna. But when a past complication threatens everything… will the billionaire daddy fight for what's become his?

Very good book, with another anti-marriage, anti-kids man laid low by a baby.  Pierce had closed himself off emotionally after losing everyone he had cared about.  When he ended up with custody of his son, he needed a nanny immediately - one who would keep "the boy" far away from him.  Anna is perfect for the job, but has her own son to care for also.  Anna can't believe how cold and distant Pierce is, and tries to get him to bond with his son.  Pierce is very distrustful, and doesn't really believe that Anna is as good as she seems.  He is sure she has an angle of some sort.  He finds that she is getting under his skin, and starts to interact with his son.  When his son's mother returns and takes Graham home, he dismisses Anna and tries to return to his former life.  The conclusion was great, and I loved the epilogue.

Honorable Intentions - Catherine Mann (HD #2151 - Apr 2012)

Series: Billionaires and Babies

Major Hank Renshaw knows almost everything there is to know about Gabrielle Ballard. Except for what it's like to touch her. Because Gabrielle is his best friend's fiancee. Or she was. Until his buddy died in battle -- right after making Hank promise to find her...

So now Hank's in New Orleans. In Gabrielle's apartment. Watching her nurse her infant son. It's not honor that draws him to her. It's not duty that makes him stay. It's need he's feeling, plain and simple -- the desire to take the woman he's always wanted and finally make her his own.

I really liked this book.  When Hank returned from his deployment, he immediately went to find Gabrielle.  It wasn't just to check up on her for his late friend's sake, but also for himself.  Gabrielle was living in New Orleans, taking care of her seriously ill son on her own.  When Hank arrived, he immediately stepped in to help.  Gaby wasn't happy about it, not wanting to be dependent on anyone - and also feeling guilty over the feelings she had for Hank.  Hank had also been in love with Gaby from the time he met her, but his friend had loved her first.  Hank felt guilty that he was alive and Kevin was dead, but was happy to be able to help Gaby.  Hank also had issues with his family, and tended to keep himself very private.  I loved seeing the whole Renshaw/Landis family together, and see how Hank and his father finally started to relate better to each other. I also thought it was great that the parents both Gaby and Hank had issues with were the ones that helped them confront their problems.

The Paternity Proposition - Merline Lovelace (HD #2145 - Mar 2012)

Series: Billionaires and Babies

"Are You My Baby's Mother?"
Billionaire Alex Dalton has had more than his share of women. But now he needs just one—Julie Bartlett, the fiery redhead who'd once given him the hottest night of his life. Was she the mother who had left a baby on the Dalton doorstep? When a paternity test proves inconclusive, he needs Julie's DNA to determine if it is Alex or his twin brother who's now a father. But when Julie refuses to cooperate, Alex vows to tempt her into giving him everything he wants.

Good book.  I really liked Julie.  She was independent and very good at what she did.   She also didn't appreciate Alex accusing her of abandoning a baby.  She also realized she was still very attracted to him.  Alex basically blackmailed Julie into going to Oklahoma City for the week, not just for the DNA issue, but because he wanted her back in his bed.  As he got to know her, he realized that she was a woman he could spend a lifetime with.  He liked seeing her in her element, when talking about the business and mechanics of her flying.  Her flying abilities scared him, because she was so good at what she did.  Julie found herself falling for Alex, especially when she saw him with baby Molly, but felt really out of place in his world.  She also found that he tended to be pretty high-handed, which she did not appreciate.  It caused them big problems toward the end of the book, and required something of an attitude adjustment on his part.  I hope Blake gets a story.

More Than Perfect - Day LeClaire (HD #2139 - Feb 2012)

Series: Billionaires and Babies

When billionaire Lucius Devlin inherits his best friend's child, he needs a wife. Preferably one who fulfills his every need. So he checks out the Pretorius Program, since it had once found him the perfect assistant....

Angie Colter can't understand who wouldn't want to spend time with the sexy, caring and utterly compelling Lucius and darling baby Mikey. Then she discovers his goal. With a few tweaks to the program -- and to her appearance -- Angie will be the perfect wife! But what if Lucius finds out the truth about his nearly perfect fiancee?

Take one hot but ruthless billionaire.  Add in one unexpected baby.  Now you have a man who needs someone to be a mother to the child, but who doesn't want an emotional connection because he's been betrayed before.  Lucius wanted the best for baby Mikey, but he had no intention of opening himself up for more heartbreak.  When he gets the computer programmer to tweak the program to help him, he gets more than he expected.  Angie had been in love with him almost from the time she started to work for him, but he never saw it.  So she colluded with one of the programmers and got it to spit out her name as the perfect wife for him.  They were amazingly compatible, and the more time they spent together the closer they got.  Then Lucius found out what Angie had done...  The conclusion was great, and I loved the way it all came together.  I hope to see a story for Jett in the future.
